Oyster Buff

This hourglass pot features a fluted neck and raw clay body which was lovingly sanded to reveal a smooth finish. This piece leans into the Japanese principle of wabi-sabi which embraces imperfection, transience, and the beauty of natural simplicity. Because the clay body was left exposed to the intense heat of the kiln, it allowed the raw beauty of the clay to shine and shows off the natural variations created through the firing process, variations which cannot be replicated.
